We are looking for a skilled Cisco VoIP/Radio Communication Systems Tech to support essential public safety and emergency communications operations in Florida. This Long-term Contract opportunity is ideal for a telecommunications specialist who can maintain reliable voice, radio, and dispatch-related systems in a fast-paced service environment. The role requires strong troubleshooting ability, sound technical judgment, and a commitment to keeping mission-critical systems operational for first responders and related agencies.
Responsibilities:
• Support the installation, configuration, maintenance, and repair of critical communications platforms used by law enforcement, 911 teams, fire stations, and emergency response personnel.
• Troubleshoot issues affecting Cisco voice systems, land mobile radio equipment, telephony components, dispatch-related technology, cabling, and connected infrastructure to restore service quickly.
• Investigate service interruptions and performance concerns, identify underlying causes, and apply effective corrective solutions to minimize downtime.
• Coordinate equipment purchasing, deployment, testing, upgrades, and replacement planning across the communications environment.
• Maintain organized records for device inventories, equipment assignments, configurations, and other operational documentation to support accountability and continuity.
• Review vendor billing and related documentation to help ensure accuracy and timely processing.
• Work closely with manufacturers, carriers, service providers, and external partners to resolve technical issues and sustain dependable communications services.
• Provide technical assistance during urgent incidents and be available for flexible scheduling, including after-hours response when operational needs require it.• At least two years of progressively responsible experience supporting communications systems within a public safety or emergency services setting.
• Working knowledge of radio communications, telephony principles, public safety communications concepts, and applicable regulatory standards.
• Hands-on experience administering and troubleshooting mission-critical technologies such as Cisco VoIP, radio systems, dispatch equipment, and supporting network infrastructure.
• Ability to communicate clearly in both written and verbal formats while working with technical teams, vendors, and operational stakeholders.
• Experience maintaining inventory records, administrative documentation, and equipment tracking data with a high level of accuracy.
• Familiarity with vendor coordination, service provider engagement, and basic network troubleshooting in a communications support environment.
• Associate degree in Electronics, Telecommunications, Information Technology, or equivalent related experience is preferred.
• Ability to type at least 25 words per minute and work a flexible schedule, including evenings or emergency callouts when needed.
