Job Description
This role supports a large-scale construction project in Apex, NC by performing a wide range of physical labor and site support tasks. You help maintain a safe, clean, and well-organized jobsite through construction cleanup, basic carpentry, site logistics, and use of hand and power tools while closely following safety standards and project specifications.
Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of physical labor tasks at construction project jobsites, including both indoor and outdoor areas.
- Support general construction requirements such as temporary structure setup, signage installation, construction cleanup, pressure washing, and overall jobsite cleaning.
- Review jobsite needs with supervisors and superintendents to fully understand scopes of work according to plans and specifications before starting assignments.
- Assist with jobsite clean-up activities, including debris removal, construction waste management, and end-of-day site organization.
- Perform rough carpentry tasks such as basic framing, deck and platform building, and installation of protection systems as directed.
- Support site logistics, including fencing installation, maintenance of construction waste areas, and other site support tasks assigned by leadership.
- Inventory supplies regularly and communicate supply orders to the appropriate supervisor to ensure timely re-stocking of materials and equipment.
- Help ensure trade employees, subcontractors, and vendors follow site standards, safety codes, regulations, and jobsite procedures.
- Demonstrate a high level of teamwork, integrity, commitment, and leadership in daily operations and interactions on site.
- Understand and follow work instructions, project signage, and safety guidance from tool and equipment manufacturers.
- Inspect tools and equipment prior to use to confirm they are in safe and proper working condition.
- Participate in daily pre-task planning meetings and follow all safety expectations for operating equipment and tools.
- Select appropriate equipment for each task and adhere strictly to safety protocols when performing work.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times as required by site safety policies.
- Perform selected demolition work in accordance with safety standards and instructions.
- Participate in and coordinate with activities of subcontractors and suppliers as needed to support project progress.
- Review the project perimeter daily to ensure security and cleanliness, and take part in end-of-day cleanup activities.
- Perform fire watch duties when required and construct scaffolding as needed under proper guidance.
- Manage dumpster vendor schedules and maintain dumpster areas to ensure cleanliness, organization, and safe access.
- Act as a spotter for heavy equipment operators to support safe movement and operation of machinery.
- Ensure the security of tools, equipment, and work areas while conducting operations and at the end of shifts.
- Identify, communicate, and escalate problems or issues to a supervisor promptly for immediate resolution.
- Track production and completion of assigned tasks to support project progress monitoring.
- Assist other craft workers in their trades when requested, providing labor support for various construction activities.
- Maintain positive working relationships with customers, contractors, suppliers, and fellow employees.
- Perform other related activities, duties, and responsibilities as assigned to support the overall success of the project.
Essential Skills
- At least 6+ months of construction experience in a commercial or industrial environment.
- Ability to perform physically demanding labor for extended periods, including lifting, carrying, bending, and working on feet throughout the shift.
- Proficiency in reading and using a tape measure accurately for basic layout and measurement tasks.
- Experience using common hand tools safely and effectively (such as hammers, wrenches, screwdrivers, and similar tools).
- Experience operating basic power tools safely (such as drills, saws, and related equipment) in a construction setting.
- Basic carpentry skills, including working with wood framing, platforms, and protection systems under supervision.
- Ability to assist with concrete-related tasks and work around concrete operations as directed.
- Strong understanding of and commitment to following safety instructions, signage, and manufacturer guidelines for tools and equipment.
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions, including plans, specifications, and daily work directions.
- Reliability and punctuality, with a consistent ability to report to the jobsite as scheduled.
- Strong teamwork skills and the ability to work cooperatively with supervisors, craft workers, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Attention to detail in maintaining cleanliness, organization, and security across the jobsite.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience on large-scale construction projects is beneficial.
- Prior experience in jobsite cleanup, site logistics, or construction waste management is an advantage.
- Familiarity with scaffolding construction and fire watch duties is helpful.
- Comfort working in both indoor and outdoor environments in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to communicate issues and safety concerns clearly and promptly to supervisors.
- Willingness to learn new tasks, tools, and procedures and to support multiple trades as needed.
- Demonstrated commitment to high standards of integrity, safety, and professionalism on the jobsite.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
