For over 45 forty-five years, our organization has provided mental health and holistic services in northern Manhattan for families, children, adolescents, and other adults including the elderly in a supportive and caring environment. We also have an outpatient and residential substance abuse program as well as a Therapeutic Preschool for 3-5 year olds.

About the Role:
The Billing Specialist plays a critical role in managing and overseeing the billing processes to ensure accurate and timely invoicing for services rendered. This position is responsible for maintaining detailed financial records, resolving billing discrepancies, and collaborating with internal departments to streamline billing operations. The ideal candidate will ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements while providing excellent customer service to clients regarding billing inquiries. By effectively managing billing cycles and accounts receivable, the Billing Specialist contributes to the organization's financial health and cash flow stability. This role requires a detail-oriented professional who can analyze billing data, identify issues, and implement solutions to optimize billing accuracy and efficiency.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred.
- Proven experience in billing, invoicing, or accounts receivable roles, preferably within a corporate or healthcare environment.
- Proficiency with billing software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Strong numerical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related discipline.
- Experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems or specialized billing platforms.
- Knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements and compliance standards.
- Certification in billing or medical coding (if applicable to industry).
- Demonstrated ability to analyze financial data and generate reports.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and issue accurate invoices to clients based on contracts, services provided, and company guidelines.
- Review billing data for accuracy and completeness, identifying and resolving discrepancies or errors promptly.
- Communicate with clients and internal teams to address billing questions, disputes, and adjustments.
- Maintain organized records of billing transactions, payments, and account statuses for reporting and auditing purposes.
- Collaborate with finance and accounting departments to reconcile accounts and support month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Monitor accounts receivable and follow up on overdue payments to ensure timely collection.
- Stay updated on billing regulations, company policies, and industry best practices to ensure compliance.
