- Job Title: Hands-On Plant Manager
- Reports To: Vice President of Operations.
- Location Type: On-Site (Manufacturing/Industrial Floor)
- Core Focus: Daily execution, floor leadership, active troubleshooting, and process safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Floor Presence: Spend most of the shift on the production floor, working side-by-side with supervisors (who report direct to this position (Production, Assembly, Fabrication, Inventory, and maintenance).
- Active Troubleshooting: Jump in to help diagnose machinery breakdowns, quality defects, and workflow bottlenecks.
- Safety & Compliance: Enforce internal safety rules by walking the floor and correcting unsafe acts immediately.
- Team Coaching: Train staff, run shift huddles, and mentor team leads on problem-solving.
- Equipment Care: Direct and assist with daily preventive and breakdown maintenance.
- Vendors: Work with vendors to insure building and equipment repairs.
- Output Tracking: Monitor daily production targets, adjusting staffing in work cells and machine flow in real time.
Requirements and Skills
- Experience: 5–10+ years in a manufacturing environment, with at least 3 years in a direct plant leadership role.
- Technical Know-How: Deep understanding of plant machinery, electrical/mechanical systems, and lean manufacturing tools.
- Communication: Clear, direct communication style to motivate floor workers and report up to executives.
- Problem-Solving: Quick decision-making skills to handle unexpected line stoppages or safety incidents.
- Physical Ability: Able to stand, walk long hours on a concrete floor, and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Personality: Must be a comfortable working in a team environment and wear many hats.
- Education: Minimum of Bachelors in related field.
Pay: $100,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
