Job Description
Wm. Huber Cabinet Works is seeking an experienced Cabinetmaker to join our team. We are a union architectural millwork company specializing in high-end commercial interiors throughout Chicagoland.
Our work includes custom casework, reception desks, feature walls, conference rooms, bars, pantries, and other specialty architectural millwork. We work alongside many of Chicago's most respected general contractors on corporate headquarters, Class A office spaces, hospitality environments, and other complex commercial interiors.
The ideal candidate is a skilled craftsman who can read detailed shop drawings, accurately build custom millwork assemblies, and take pride in producing quality work.
Primary Responsibilities
- Fabricate and assemble custom casework, reception desks, and architectural millwork
- Read and interpret detailed shop drawings, plans, and fabrication specifications
- Lay out, fit, and assemble components accurately according to project requirements
- Work with plywood, MDF, veneer panels, plastic laminate, solid wood, and composite materials
- Use table saws, routers, hand tools, and other assembly equipment safely and effectively
- Install hardware and specialty components as required
- Verify dimensions, fit, alignment, and overall quality throughout the assembly process
- Identify drawing, material, or fabrication concerns before they affect production
- Coordinate with the Shop Foreman and other cabinetmakers to maintain an efficient workflow
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-focused work area
- Produce work that meets established standards for quality, craftsmanship, and productivity
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience building custom casework or architectural millwork preferred
- Strong ability to read and interpret detailed shop drawings
- Knowledge of cabinet construction and millwork assembly techniques
- Experience working with common architectural millwork materials and hardware
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and general woodworking equipment
- Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to quality, fit, and finish
- Dependable, self-motivated, and able to work productively with limited supervision
- Able to work effectively as part of a shop production team
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy
Schedule
1st shift, with overtime paid at time and a half as required.
