Special Education Teacher - Bloomfield, CT

This full-time contract opportunity runs from August 2026 through June 2027, encompassing the entire 26/27 academic year. You’ll work closely with a dedicated team and a manageable caseload of energetic first and second graders, fostering a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere.

Key Qualifications:

• Valid certification in Special Education (or eligibility to obtain prior to start date)
• Experience working with elementary-aged children, especially in special education settings
• Strong collaboration skills to partner with general education teachers, aides, and support staff
• Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with students, families, and colleagues
• Ability to adapt instruction based on IEP goals and evolving student needs

Primary Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for 1st and 2nd grade students
• Deliver differentiated instruction in small group and one-on-one formats
• Assess student progress, track data, and adjust strategies as needed to achieve IEP goals
• Collaborate with fellow teachers and specialists to integrate lessons and support services
• Maintain accurate records and participate in IEP meetings with families and staff
• Promote social, emotional, and academic development within an inclusive classroom environment
