Special Education Teacher - Washington Navy Yard, DC

Desired qualifications:

• Hold special education teaching certification (or eligibility for DC reciprocity via Virginia or Maryland certification)
• Experience instructing at the middle school or upper elementary level
• Deep understanding of IEP development, compliance, and progress monitoring
• Strong classroom management and communication skills
• Ability to promote differentiated instruction and support diverse learners

Responsibilities:

• Provide specialized instruction to 6th grade students with varying needs
• Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) in compliance with regulations
• Work in partnership with families, related service providers, and general education teachers to promote student success
• Monitor and document student progress; adjust strategies as needed
• Foster an inclusive, encouraging atmosphere where every student’s voice is valued
