Job Description
An exciting opportunity awaits passionate educators committed to making a meaningful difference for middle school students. Two Special Education Teachers are sought for a contract position covering the 2025-2026 academic year, beginning immediately and extending through May 2026. This role will focus on supporting a dynamic group of students with varying behavioral needs, fostering growth and achievement within a middle school setting. Interviews are available both virtually and in person for your convenience.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Michigan teaching certification with a Mathematics (EX) endorsement
- At least one special education endorsement in Autism (SV), Cognitive Impairment (SA), Emotional Impairment (SE), or Learning Disabilities (SM)
- Previous experience working with middle school students, preferably in a special education capacity
- Strong ability to adapt instructional strategies to meet diverse learner needs
- Skilled in managing and responding to a range of student behaviors
- Effective communication and collaboration with staff, students, and families
- Reliable, organized, and motivated by student success
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) aligned with student goals and academic standards
- Differentiate instruction in math and other core subjects for students with disabilities
- Establish a supportive and structured classroom environment conducive to varied behavioral needs
- Collaborate closely with general education teachers, specialists, and paraprofessionals to ensure student progress
- Communicate regularly with families regarding student development and progress
- Maintain detailed and compliant records as required by state and federal guidelines
