In this full-time, school-based role, you’ll support students in grades 5–8, providing both direct instruction and in-class accommodations. Your expertise will help students with IEPs, 504 plans, and other learning needs thrive both academically and personally. Ideal candidates will possess:
- Active Rhode Island RIDE certification as a Special Education Teacher
- Bachelor’s degree required (Master’s degree preferred)
- At least two years of relevant teaching experience (school-based experience strongly valued)
- Strong experience supporting diverse learners in a middle school setting
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with general education teachers and school staff
- Commitment to high expectations and achievement for all students
- Bilingual skills are highly encouraged
Key responsibilities include:
- Planning and implementing small-group, standards-based instruction
- Providing targeted support and implementing appropriate accommodations
- Monitoring progress toward IEP goals and maintaining relevant documentation
- Participating in IEP meetings and collaborating with colleagues, families, and service providers
- Proactively engaging with students and families to foster relationships and effective communication
- Maintaining a positive, achievement-oriented, and well-managed classroom environment
- Participating in professional development and school community events
