Occupational Therapist School Setting in Minneapolis, MN
Job Description
Make a meaningful difference in the lives of elementary and middle school students by providing essential occupational therapy services this school year. Work within an educational setting near Minneapolis on a full-time contract basis from November through February, helping young learners access opportunities for growth and success.
Ideal candidates will have:
- Valid and current licensure as an Occupational Therapist (OT)
- Prior experience in school-based OT, particularly with elementary and middle school-aged children
- Strong understanding of IEP processes, documentation standards, and best practices within a school environment
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills to work alongside educators, support staff, and families
- Ability to assess, develop, and implement effective therapy plans that support students’ participation in academic and daily activities
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing direct occupational therapy services to a diverse caseload of students across elementary and middle grades
- Conducting screenings, evaluations, and progress monitoring in accordance with state and district requirements
- Developing and updating IEPs, contributing valuable input to student support teams
- Collaborating with teachers, counselors, and families to promote inclusive learning environments and student independence
- Making recommendations for classroom modifications, sensory supports, or adaptive strategies tailored to individual needs
- Documenting therapy sessions, maintaining accurate and timely records, and participating in team meetings as required
