Job Description
Step into a rewarding opportunity supporting students’ growth and success as a dedicated Special Education Teacher in an elementary school setting near Hopkins, MN. This contract position runs from September 1, 2026, through June 4, 2027, offering the chance to make a tangible difference in the lives of students with special needs.
You’ll work closely with a manageable caseload of up to 10 students, utilizing a collaborative approach with paraprofessionals and an intervener. This role is ideal for educators passionate about working with students on the autism spectrum and committed to fostering inclusive, supportive classroom environments.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Current, active Special Education license (PELSB/MDE required prior to start—no exceptions)
- Tier 2 licensure or higher required
- Experience teaching students with Autism Spectrum Disorders strongly preferred
- Proven ability to collaborate with support staff, families, and other team members
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Commitment to individualized instruction and data-driven practices
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs for students on your caseload
- Deliver specialized instruction and adapt curriculum based on individual student needs
- Coordinate and collaborate with paraprofessionals and the intervener to enhance learning outcomes
- Conduct ongoing progress monitoring and maintain documentation as required by district and state guidelines
- Create a safe, nurturing, and structured classroom environment
