Special Education Teacher – Joliet, IL

Make a difference where it matters most!

We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to join a welcoming school district in Joliet, Illinois for the upcoming school year. This is an excellent opportunity to support students with diverse learning needs while working alongside a collaborative team of educators and specialists.

Position Details

  • Location: Joliet, IL
  • Position: Special Education Teacher (LBS1)
  • Schedule: Full-Time
  • Setting: Onsite
  • School Year: Current School Year

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Provide specialized instruction that supports students' academic, behavioral, and social-emotional development.
  • Adapt curriculum and instructional strategies to meet individual student needs.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, therapists, administrators, and families to ensure student success.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and progress monitoring in compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team discussions.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and structured classroom environment that encourages student growth.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education or a related field.
  • Valid Illinois Learning Behavioral Specialist 1 Certificate
  • Previous school-based experience preferred, but passionate new graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • Strong communication, organization, and classroom management skills.
  • Commitment to helping students reach their full potential.
