Position Summary

ABSS Solutions, Inc. is seeking an experienced Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) to provide comprehensive women's healthcare services in support of the San Antonio Military Health System at Wilford Hall Ambulatory Surgical Center, Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland.

The CNM will provide comprehensive primary and women's healthcare across the lifespan, including prenatal, postpartum, well-woman gynecologic, family-planning, and preconception care. The position works collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and other members of a multidisciplinary military healthcare team to provide high-quality, patient-centered care to military beneficiaries.

This is a full-time, onsite opportunity anticipated to begin following contract award and completion of Government credentialing and privileging requirements.

Key Responsibilities

The Certified Nurse Midwife will:

  • Provide comprehensive primary and women's healthcare from menarche through menopause, including prenatal, postpartum, well-woman gynecologic, family-planning, and preconception care.
  • Manage normal antepartum patients, including patient education, counseling, assessment, and ongoing support.
  • Participate in the care and management of women with medical complications and collaborate, consult, and refer to Obstetrician-Gynecologists and other specialists as appropriate.
  • Obtain and document patient health histories and perform obstetrical and other appropriate physical assessments.
  • Assess and manage acute and chronic health conditions using evidence-based clinical guidelines and individualized care plans.
  • Provide patient and family education regarding disease management, medications, preventive care, healthy behaviors, and other healthcare needs.
  • Perform advanced nursing assessments and procedures within the CNM scope of practice, including medication administration and other diagnostic and therapeutic clinical activities.
  • Recognize changes in patient condition and initiate appropriate clinical or emergency interventions in accordance with established protocols.
  • Document patient care accurately and timely within the applicable electronic health record.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, social workers, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated, patient-centered care.
  • Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, continuing education, and professional development activities.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable clinical standards, patient confidentiality requirements, professional standards of practice, and facility policies.
Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Master's degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
  • Graduate of a Certified Nurse Midwife education program accredited by the American College of Nurse-Midwives (ACNM). The PWS does not permit an education equivalency substitution for this requirement.
  • Current certification through the American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB).
  • Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Full, current, and unrestricted Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice license in a U.S. State, Territory, Commonwealth, or the District of Columbia.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in the specialty within the preceding three years.
  • Demonstrated clinical competency in the management of routine women's health and obstetrical care.
  • Ability to satisfy all applicable Government credentialing and privileging requirements.
Preferred Experience
  • Prior experience within a DoD, Military Treatment Facility, VA, federal healthcare, or other large integrated healthcare environment.
  • Experience working collaboratively with OB/GYN physicians and multidisciplinary women's health teams.
  • Experience managing both routine and higher-risk obstetric patients within the CNM scope of practice.
  • Familiarity with military healthcare systems and electronic health records.
  • Strong patient education, communication, documentation, and care-coordination skills.
