Job Description

Litigation Associate Trial & Defense General Liability, Product Liability & Catastrophic Injury

Las Vegas

2–8 years of litigation experience | Nevada bar required | Hybrid

The Opportunity

Here's a chance to step into a real caseload from day one — not a bench role, not a support seat, but genuine ownership of general liability, product liability, premises liability, and catastrophic injury matters from intake through trial.

This practice sits inside one of the most respected insurance-focused litigation platforms in the world — a firm with roughly 500 partners, 2,400 lawyers, and 5,500 people across nearly 70 offices spanning six continents, consistently recognized among the top-ranked insurance and litigation practices by Chambers and Legal 500. The Las Vegas office punches well above its weight within that network, handling sophisticated defense work for national and international carriers and corporate clients, and the group is looking to add an associate who wants real courtroom reps, not just document review.

You'll manage your own caseload of 10–20 matters, take and defend depositions, argue motions, and actually be in the room for mediations and trials — the kind of hands-on litigation experience that's harder to find than it should be at this stage of a career.

What You'll Do

  • Manage a caseload of 10–20 active matters from investigation through resolution
  • Investigate claims and build case handling strategy
  • Draft and respond to written discovery, and review/analyze documents for production
  • Conduct legal research using Westlaw
  • Take and defend depositions
  • Draft and file pleadings and motions — and argue them
  • Attend hearings
  • Prepare pre-trial and trial documents
  • Prepare cases for mediation and trial, and participate directly in both
  • Report to clients regularly and keep them genuinely informed, not just updated

What We're Looking For

  • 2–8 years of substantive litigation experience, ideally in general liability, product liability, premises liability, or catastrophic injury defense
  • Admission to the Nevada bar
  • Real, hands-on experience with depositions, discovery, motion practice, and pre-trial prep — this isn't an entry-level research role
  • Strong academic credentials from a well-regarded law school
  • Excellent legal writing and research skills
  • A confident, effective voice in front of a judge
  • The organizational chops to juggle a full caseload without dropping balls
  • Good judgment under pressure and a knack for solving problems before they become bigger ones
  • A professional, level-headed presence with opposing counsel, clients, and colleagues alike

Compensation & Benefits Worth Talking About

This is where the offer gets genuinely competitive, so bear with the list:

  • Two separate bonus programs, stacked on top of each other. A monthly billable-hours bonus of up to $2,000 that pays out in addition to (not instead of) the annual bonus.
  • An annual incentive plan that starts paying at just 1,900 billable hours and scales up meaningfully from there — up to 35% of base salary at higher hour levels. Bonus thresholds that don't feel out of reach are rarer than they should be in this industry.
  • Non-taxable student loan repayment — $250 a month applied directly to a qualifying loan for eligible attorneys.
  • Retirement benefits that start on day one and are 100% vested immediately — no multi-year cliff before it's actually yours.
  • Six months of fully paid parental leave, available to all parents regardless of gender or path to parenthood.
  • Flexible PTO — attorneys are trusted to use their own judgment about time off, not boxed into a rigid accrual chart.
  • Hybrid flexibility that balances in-office collaboration with genuine remote days.
  • $300 a year toward wellbeing, plus a dedicated Wellbeing Day that's yours, no work attached.
  • Referral bonuses for bringing in good people.
  • A global mobility program — real opportunities to work client matters and training programs across the international office network, not just a line in a brochure.
  • Strong mentorship and career development support, with attorneys who are genuinely invested in helping you grow toward where you want to be.

Why This One's Worth a Conversation

Insurance defense litigation can be a grind at the wrong shop — thin support, unclear paths to trial experience, bonus structures that look good on paper and never quite pay out. This isn't that. You'd be joining a well-resourced, globally connected practice that still runs like a place where partners know your name and your caseload is genuinely yours to run.
