Job Description
The Plating Prep & Solder Dip Operator performs multiple plating and solder dip processes on mission-critical components and assembled parts using a variety of tools and equipment. The role involves passivation, electropolish, special cleaning, DS9 etching, ionic testing, and various layer stripping, while following detailed work instructions and engineering documentation to meet strict quality and production standards. This position may be on second or third shift, with an initial training period of approximately 60 days on first shift.
Responsibilities- Perform multiple plating techniques, including passivation, electropolish, special cleaning, DS9 etching, ionic testing, and various layer stripping on mission-critical components and assemblies.
- Rack and wind battery covers for plating using appropriate tools and equipment according to required specifications in a designated area of the production line.
- Cap, back-strip, and solder dip parts in accordance with established specifications and quality requirements.
- Collect and organize all materials, tools, and equipment required to begin plating preparation and solder dip processes.
- Read, interpret, and follow basic blueprints, diagrams, engineering drawings, specifications, bills of materials, and other written instructions to accurately prepare parts for plating.
- Achieve applied and earned production rates to standard, maintaining productivity and throughput goals.
- Perform basic visual inspections to verify conformance to quality and visual standards.
- Complete preventive maintenance activities such as stripping plating racks between runs, and promptly alert engineering and maintenance personnel to needed repairs.
- Perform continuity checks to ensure correct wiring techniques and to identify rack issues before and after processing.
- Follow work instructions and detail sheets with strict adherence to process controls and documentation requirements.
- Accurately complete required production documentation and perform ERP system transactions to record work performed and material usage.
- Work safely and maintain a clean, organized work area in the production environment.
- Experience with production and assembly work in a manufacturing environment.
- Hands-on experience with plating preparation and soldering assembly processes.
- Ability to rack and wind battery covers for plating using a variety of tools and equipment according to specifications.
- Proficiency in capping, back-stripping, and solder dipping parts to meet required specifications.
- Ability to read, interpret, and follow basic blueprints, diagrams, engineering drawings, specifications, bills of materials, and written work instructions.
- Capability to meet applied and earned production rates and maintain consistent throughput.
- Skill in performing basic visual inspections to ensure parts meet quality and visual standards.
- Ability to carry out preventive maintenance tasks, including stripping plating racks between runs.
- Competence in performing continuity checks to verify correct wiring techniques and identify rack issues.
- Strong attention to detail and adherence to work instructions and detail sheets.
- Ability to accurately complete production documentation and execute ERP system transactions.
- Prior experience working on mission-critical components and assemblies in a manufacturing or production environment.
- Familiarity with plating processes such as passivation, electropolish, special cleaning, DS9 etching, ionic testing, and layer stripping.
- Comfort working from technical documentation, including engineering drawings and bills of materials.
- Basic understanding of preventive maintenance practices in a production setting.
- General computer literacy to navigate and update ERP systems and production records.

Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Southbridge, MA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.10 - $21.17/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
