The Accountant plays a key role in maintaining accurate financial records for major programs by reconciling accounts payable and receivable, preparing journal entries, and supporting month-end and year-end close activities. This position investigates and resolves account and invoice discrepancies, collaborates with internal teams and external stakeholders to address inquiries, and ensures that all transactions comply with established accounting principles and practices.

Responsibilities
  • Reconcile accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions for major programs to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Investigate, document, and resolve account and invoice discrepancies, recommending and processing appropriate adjustments as needed.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal departments and external customers to resolve inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Prepare journal entries and perform account reconciliations for one or more business units in accordance with accounting standards.
  • Research and process necessary stock adjustments to maintain accurate inventory and financial records.
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes, including reconciliations and preparation of supporting documentation.
  • Perform other accounting and finance-related duties as assigned to support the overall effectiveness of the finance function.
Essential Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, or an additional 3 years of specific, relevant work experience in lieu of a degree.
  • 4 years of relevant technical work experience in accounting or finance.
  • Solid knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
  • Demonstrated experience with general ledger accounting and account reconciliation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret financial data and identify discrepancies.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in all aspects of work.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including proficiency with VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP, and pivot tables.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships across teams and with external stakeholders.
  • Ability to read and write at a proficient level to prepare and interpret financial documentation.
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment and changing business priorities.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience working with vendor accounts and vendor-related reconciliations.
  • Comfort collaborating across multiple business units or programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines within monthly and annual close cycles.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize work effectively.
Work Environment

This role is based in an office environment, with a standard schedule of five days per week on-site and flexibility where needed. The position involves regular use of computers and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, in a fast-paced setting with evolving business priorities. Collaboration with various teams is frequent, and the work focuses on detailed financial analysis and documentation in a professional office atmosphere.

This is a Contract position based out of Miramar, FL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $32.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
