We are seeking a highly skilled Thermoforming Process Technician to join our Tooling & Maintenance team in Temecula. This hands-on role requires an experienced technician capable of independently setting up, operating, troubleshooting, and maintaining thermoforming and extrusion equipment. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude and a proven track record of managing production lines, performing complex mechanical troubleshooting, and supporting molding maintenance to ensure optimal equipment performance and product quality.
Responsibilities
- Set up and configure thermoforming and extrusion equipment for production runs.
- Select and install dies, calibrate temperature zones, and adjust pressure, vacuum, and timing settings aligned with material and product specifications.
- Load raw materials into hoppers and manage flat plastic stock to maintain consistent production flow.
- Monitor machine performance and make process adjustments to maximize efficiency and product quality.
- Inspect production runs for quality, accuracy, alignment, color consistency, and appearance using precision measuring tools.
- Identify and correct defects including webbing, cracking, warping, and inconsistent thickness.
- Diagnose and resolve equipment issues such as die adjustments, blockages, irregular material flow, machine jams, and thickness variations.
- Perform preventive maintenance including cleaning, lubricating, replacing consumables, and routine inspections.
- Support general molding maintenance and provide technical expertise for automation, injection molding, cooling systems, and related manufacturing equipment.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and adhere to preventive maintenance schedules.
- Follow all safety policies, maintain a clean and organized workspace, and report hazards promptly.
Required Qualifications
- Extensive experience operating, setting up, and troubleshooting thermoforming and/or extrusion equipment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with capability to diagnose and repair complex production equipment.
- Experience in preventive and corrective maintenance within a manufacturing environment.
- Proficient with hand tools and precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
- Ownership of necessary tools to perform job duties.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently while supporting a collaborative team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in thermoforming and extrusion operations.
