IT Computer Operator Specialist
Job Description
We are looking for an IT Computer Operator Specialist to support overnight print operations and production monitoring for a leading life insurance organization in West Des Moines, Iowa. This Long-term Contract position is ideal for someone who is comfortable working in a structured production environment, ensuring print jobs are executed accurately and delivered on time. The person in this role will oversee scheduled output, keep printing equipment supplied and running efficiently, and respond quickly when issues arise to minimize disruption.
IMPORTANT: Hours from 6:00am – 3:30pm Monday – Thursday, and 6:00 am – 11:00am on Friday.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee scheduled production activity by monitoring job workflows and verifying that overnight output is processed according to plan.
• Prepare printers for daily operation by selecting and loading the appropriate paper stock and materials for each assignment.
• Launch, track, and complete print runs while confirming output quality and ensuring all required documents are produced accurately.
• Remove finished materials from equipment, organize hard-copy output, and distribute printed documents to the appropriate destination.
• Identify printing or scheduling problems, perform basic troubleshooting steps, and escalate incidents promptly when additional support is needed.
• Use production and office applications to review work status, document issues, and maintain clear communication with team members and stakeholders.
• Maintain dependable attendance, manage shift responsibilities efficiently, and contribute to a collaborative work environment focused on timely results.
• 3+ years of experience in computer operations, print production, desktop support, or a related technical support environment.• Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows and common office software used for tracking tasks and communicating updates.
• Hands-on experience supporting print services, including operating production printers and handling printed output.
• Ability to perform basic troubleshooting for print jobs, workstation issues, and routine production interruptions.
• Familiarity with service desk ticketing processes and the ability to document incidents clearly and accurately.
• Understanding of offset printing or comparable high-volume print environments is preferred.
• Strong time management, dependable attendance, and clear written and verbal communication skills.
