A leading manufacturer of heavy industrial equipment is seeking an experienced Assembly Department Lead to join its production team. In this role, you oversee the final assembly and inspection of complex machinery while leading a team of assembly technicians to ensure quality, efficiency, and safety standards are consistently met. You serve as the working lead for the assembly department, with a strong focus on hydraulic and electrical systems, guiding the team through the final stages of equipment assembly.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and supervise a team of assembly mechanics and technicians through the final stages of equipment assembly.
  • Ensure products are assembled accurately and efficiently according to blueprints, schematics, and engineering specifications.
  • Perform quality inspections and functional testing of completed assemblies to verify performance and reliability.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve assembly-related issues, collaborating closely with engineering and production teams when necessary.
  • Train, mentor, and support team members to maintain a high level of performance, workmanship, and adherence to standards.
  • Promote and maintain a safe, organized, and productive work environment on the assembly floor.
  • Ensure tools, equipment, and workstations are properly maintained and ready for use.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, and quality departments to identify and implement process improvements.
  • Monitor production schedules and help drive on-time completion of customer orders.
  • Act as a working lead in hydraulic and electrical assembly, providing hands-on support and technical guidance.
Essential Skills
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a leadership or lead role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in final assembly, mechanical assembly, heavy equipment, industrial machinery, or a closely related industry.
  • Extensive experience assembling, troubleshooting, and installing industrial hydraulic systems, including hydraulic hoses, cylinders, valves, pumps, and related components.
  • Solid understanding of industrial electrical systems, including wiring, harness installation, routing, termination, and reading electrical schematics.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and communication skills for guiding and developing assembly teams.
  • Excellent mechanical aptitude and understanding of assembly processes, tools, and techniques.
  • Proven troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities related to mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, hydraulic schematics, electrical schematics, and assembly instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship.
  • Knowledge of workplace safety standards and manufacturing best practices.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment and consistently meet production deadlines.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Hands-on experience as a working lead in hydraulic and electrical assembly environments.
  • Background in heavy industrial equipment or complex machinery assembly.
  • Comfort collaborating with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, engineering, and quality.
  • Interest in continuous improvement and process optimization within a production setting.

Work Environment

This role is based in a manufacturing and production environment focused on heavy industrial equipment assembly. The standard schedule runs Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., providing a consistent daytime shift. You work closely with assembly technicians and cross-functional teams, using hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment to assemble and test complex hydraulic and electrical systems. The environment emphasizes safety, organization, and productivity, with well-maintained tools, equipment, and workstations to support efficient workflows.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sherwood, OR.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
