Drafting / CAD Technician - Solid Works
Job Description
This role focuses on supporting a line of patient-specific medical implants by creating precise SolidWorks models and related documentation. You will collaborate closely with engineers and physicians to translate CT scan data into accurate implant designs, while also producing and preparing 3D-printed prototypes for further manufacturing processes.
Responsibilities- Collaborate with engineers and physicians to develop patient-specific implant designs based on CT scans of patient anatomy.
- Create detailed 3D models and drawings in SolidWorks for medical device components and patient-specific implants.
- Perform CAD drafting and surfacing work to ensure designs meet functional and quality requirements.
- Operate and work hands-on with 3D printers to produce prototypes of implant designs.
- Prepare 3D-printed prototypes for transfer to the molding department, ensuring parts are ready for subsequent manufacturing steps.
- Use laser scanning and related tools as needed to support accurate modeling and verification of designs.
- Maintain clear, accurate, and organized documentation for all design work, revisions, and prototypes.
- Pay close attention to detail in all aspects of drafting, design, and prototyping to support high-quality medical devices.
- Work effectively within a drafting office environment, coordinating tasks and progress with your supervisor and team members.
- Proficient SolidWorks experience with the ability to create detailed 3D models and engineering drawings.
- Hands-on experience or strong willingness to work directly with 3D printers and their printed products.
- Strong CAD drafting skills, including surfacing and modeling for complex geometries.
- Good documentation skills with the ability to maintain accurate design records and revision histories.
- High attention to detail in design, drafting, and prototyping work.
- Comfort working with laser scanners or similar tools to support design accuracy.
- Experience in medical device design or patient-specific product development is beneficial.
- Background in 3D printing processes, including preparation and post-processing of prototypes.
- General design experience, including translating conceptual requirements into manufacturable parts.
- Interest in long-term career growth within a stable company in the medical device field.
The role is based in a drafting office environment with cubicle workstations, where you will share the workspace and collaborate closely with your supervisor and team. You will primarily use SolidWorks and CAD tools, along with 3D printers and laser scanning equipment, to support design and prototyping activities. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ventura, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $21.00 - $30.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
