This role focuses on producing and refurbishing large industrial rubber rollers and gaskets used in conveyor systems, printing operations, and other industrial applications. You operate industrial presses to create rubber gaskets, support various shop activities such as rubber mixing and material handling, and contribute to maintaining a safe and efficient production environment. The position is hands-on, mechanically focused, and requires regular lifting of heavy materials in a busy rubber manufacturing shop.

Responsibilities
  • Operate industrial-sized presses and machines to produce rubber gaskets and related components for industrial applications.
  • Prepare and apply adhesive to parts according to daily job requirements and work instructions.
  • Trim finished rubber parts using knives, scissors, and cutting tools to meet quality and dimensional specifications.
  • Prepare rubber stock for upcoming jobs, including measuring, cutting, and staging materials.
  • Perform simple maintenance on presses and production equipment to keep machines operating safely and efficiently.
  • Keep the work area clean, organized, and free of clutter to support safety and productivity.
  • Set up molds and assist in mold setup for various jobs, ensuring correct configuration before production runs.
  • Assist other shop areas when primary jobs are slow, supporting general production and material handling tasks.
  • Clean metal inserts using a belt sander and solvents while wearing proper personal protective equipment.
  • Load and unload molds, parts, and materials using a forklift or manual lifting devices, and place molds on designated shelves.
  • Handle general labor tasks such as shop cleanup, rubber mixing, and basic material handling as needed.
  • Use hand tools, calipers, and tape measures to verify dimensions and ensure parts meet specifications.
  • Follow written work instructions and production procedures to maintain consistent quality standards.
  • Support safe operation of overhead cranes and other material handling equipment as required.
  • Contribute to a cooperative team environment by communicating clearly and assisting coworkers when needed.
Essential Skills
  • Mechanical aptitude and the ability to work comfortably with industrial machines and production equipment.
  • Ability to read and follow written work instructions accurately.
  • Capability to regularly lift up to 90 pounds in a production environment.
  • Skill in using a tape measure and calipers to perform accurate measurements.
  • Comfort with trimming rubber molds and parts using knives, scissors, and other cutting tools.
  • Basic machine operation skills, including loading and unloading materials and monitoring equipment during runs.
  • Ability to perform simple maintenance tasks on presses and related machinery.
  • General production and general labor experience or willingness to learn in a hands-on environment.
  • Attention to cleanliness and safety, including keeping the work area organized and following PPE requirements.
  • Ability to operate or learn to operate forklifts and manual lifting devices for moving molds and materials.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience in rubber manufacturing, general production, or construction environments is beneficial but not required.
  • Familiarity with hand tools, cutting tools, and basic repair tasks in a shop setting.
  • Exposure to chemical handling and cleaning processes in an industrial environment.
  • Experience with overhead cranes and other material handling equipment is a plus.
  • Comfort working in a dirty, smaller shop environment with industrial machinery and rubber materials.
  • Ability to collaborate with a team and assist in different areas of the shop as workload shifts.

Work Environment

You work in a smaller, dirty rubber manufacturing shop with industrial-sized presses, molds, belt sanders, forklifts, and overhead cranes. Proper personal protective equipment is required, and the dress code includes work boots and long pants to ensure safety and comfort in the production area.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Clackamas, OR.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
