Account Manager
Job Description
The Account Manager serves as the primary point of contact for key customer accounts, ensuring exceptional service, account growth, and operational success in a fast-paced transportation and logistics environment. This role manages day-to-day customer relationships, coordinates with internal and external stakeholders to resolve service issues, and drives performance improvements through data analysis and proactive communication. The Account Manager identifies opportunities for revenue growth and improved profitability while maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction and retention.
Responsibilities- Serve as the primary contact for assigned customer accounts, providing responsive and professional support.
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships to enhance satisfaction, loyalty, and long-term retention.
- Coordinate with internal operations, pricing, claims, and leadership teams, as well as external partners, to resolve service issues and ensure smooth logistics execution.
- Analyze account performance data and recommend operational improvements that enhance service quality and efficiency.
- Review customer KPIs and implement corrective action plans when performance falls below agreed targets.
- Manage RFQ opportunities and support bid processes to secure new and expanded business.
- Collaborate with pricing teams on spot quotes and special rate requests to meet customer needs.
- Lead Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) and present account performance data, trends, and action plans to customers and internal stakeholders.
- Monitor inventory levels, on-hold units, dwell times, and service level performance to maintain operational excellence.
- Facilitate regular customer meetings, document action items, and drive timely follow-up and resolution.
- Proactively communicate urgent issues, service disruptions, and operational updates to customers and internal teams.
- Provide ongoing account updates and status reports through phone, email, virtual meetings, and CRM systems.
- Identify opportunities for revenue growth, upselling, and cross-selling within existing accounts.
- Drive initiatives that improve account profitability while maintaining high service standards.
- 3+ years of experience in Account Management, Customer Success, Client Services, or Logistics Coordination.
- Proven account management skills with a strong customer-service mindset.
- Demonstrated customer relationship management capabilities and client-facing communication skills.
- Experience leading customer meetings, reviewing KPIs, and presenting business updates.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with operations, pricing, and leadership teams in a logistics or freight environment.
- Customer service orientation with an upbeat, professional demeanor.
- Proficiency with CRM systems, including tools such as Salesforce.
- Strong analytical skills to interpret performance metrics and recommend operational improvements.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for phone, email, and virtual interactions.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Experience in automotive logistics, including vehicle transportation, OEM, dealer, auction, or remarketed automotive environments.
- Experience with RFQs, bid management, pricing, or carrier negotiations.
- Experience preparing and presenting Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs).
- Familiarity with routing, dispatching, or transportation management systems (TMS).
- Experience managing inventory, dwell times, SLAs, and operational performance metrics.
- Ability to identify growth opportunities and strategies to improve account profitability.
This is a fully onsite role with standard hours of approximately 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The position operates in a fast-paced transportation and logistics environment that is highly collaborative and team-oriented. You will partner closely with customers, operations, pricing, claims, and leadership teams to deliver high-quality service and solutions. The role combines customer-facing relationship management with hands-on operational problem-solving. Daily work involves heavy communication via phone, email, virtual meetings, and CRM systems in a metrics-driven setting focused on customer satisfaction, service performance, and account growth.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Permanent position based out of Plymouth, MI.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $65000.00 - $70000.00/yr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
