Job Description

Insight Global is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support capital projects, plant operations, and continuous improvement initiatives for a manufacturing facility in Cleveland, Ohio. This role is highly visible within the plant and requires an engineer who can work independently, manage multiple priorities, and serve as a technical resource across mechanical, electrical, and facility systems.

The engineer will split time between project work and plant-floor support. Project responsibilities include scoping capital improvements, reviewing vendor proposals, creating purchase orders, coordinating contractors, managing project schedules, and driving initiatives from concept through implementation. On the operations side, the engineer will support maintenance and production teams by troubleshooting equipment issues, evaluating system performance, assisting with repairs, and helping minimize downtime.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys wearing multiple hats and working in a hands-on manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will develop a strong understanding of the facility's infrastructure and production systems while helping lead projects that improve reliability, efficiency, and overall plant performance.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Manage and execute capital improvement projects throughout the facility
  • Scope projects, review quotes, obtain vendor proposals, and create purchase orders
  • Coordinate contractors, project schedules, logistics, and installation activities
  • Troubleshoot equipment and facility issues alongside maintenance personnel
  • Evaluate mechanical systems and equipment performance to improve reliability
  • Assist with equipment breakdowns involving pumps, motors, valves, boilers, tanks, and other process equipment
  • Partner with operations, maintenance, contractors, and vendors to resolve technical challenges
  • Support facility and utility systems including HVAC and air handling equipment
  • Utilize AutoCAD for layouts, drawings, and facility improvement projects
  • Track maintenance and equipment information through iMaint software

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
  • 2-4 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems within a production facility
  • Hands-on troubleshooting experience with industrial equipment and plant systems
  • Ability to coordinate vendors, contractors, and multiple project priorities simultaneously
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently with minimal oversight
  • Comfortable working both in an office environment and on the manufacturing floor
