The Model-Based Systems Engineer (MBSE) will support the development of advanced hypersonic wind tunnel capabilities and other complex aerospace systems. This role offers an opportunity to work alongside experienced engineers and technical leaders on challenging national defense and aerospace programs. You will solve complex engineering problems, collaborate across disciplines, and build scalable MBSE solutions that directly support critical mission objectives.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain MBSE models for complex system-of-systems architectures using Cameo Systems Modeler / MagicDraw.
  • Support advanced hypersonic wind tunnel development efforts and related engineering activities.
  • Create modeling standards, guidebooks, and best practices to support collaborative multi-user model development.
  • Partner with multidisciplinary engineering teams to define system requirements, interfaces, behaviors, and architecture relationships.
  • Support systems engineering lifecycle activities including technical reviews, requirements management, and milestone execution.
  • Train and mentor engineering team members in MBSE methodologies and model administration.
  • Communicate technical and program status through MBSE artifacts and model-driven insights.
  • Contribute to innovative engineering solutions supporting cutting-edge aerospace and defense initiatives.
Essential Skills
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering - Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace, etc.
  • 3+ years of experience in Systems Engineering working with multidiscipline products (Mechanical, Electrical, Hardware, Software).
  • Experience developing MBSE models in Cameo or MagicDraw.
  • Knowledge of Aerospace engineering, Doors, Analysis, Hypersonic technologies, and SysML.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Aerospace, mechanical, or other physics-based engineering experience is a plus.
  • Familiarity with engineering and requirements management tools such as IBM Engineering Requirements Management DOORS Next (DNG) and Jira.
  • Experience supporting hypersonic systems, wind tunnel development, or advanced R&D programs.
Work Environment

You will be one of the first employees hired in Indiana to support the NSWC Crane efforts. You will have the opportunity to mentor and shape the culture of the team. Currently, the team is working from an office in a co-working facility at the Westgate Academy until permanent office space is secured. There is an option to work from home 2-3 days a week. You will collaborate with the engineers at headquarters in Huntsville, AL.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Odon, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $52.00 - $72.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
