Patricia Wesson with Robert Half is searching for an experienced Sr. Accountant to join a finance team in Portland, Oregon. This role will oversee core accounting activities, support accurate financial reporting, and help maintain strong compliance with GAAP standards. The ideal candidate brings a solid background in general ledger accounting, close activities, and audit support, along with strong analytical and organizational skills.


Responsibilities:

• Manage daily accounting operations by recording financial activity and keeping ledger balances accurate and current.

• Complete bank and balance sheet reconciliations, investigating discrepancies and resolving issues in a timely manner.

• Prepare journal entries, supporting schedules, and account analysis to contribute to efficient month-end close cycles.

• Maintain financial records and reporting documentation to help ensure deadlines are met across recurring accounting processes.

• Partner with internal stakeholders and auditors by supplying requested information, reviewing financial data, and supporting audit activities.

• Uphold accounting practices that align with GAAP and internal control expectations.

• Provide operational and reporting support to the Controller and assist with additional finance-related priorities as needed.

• Organize accounts payable files and handle administrative accounting tasks that support overall department effectiveness.

• Develop ad hoc financial reports and analysis for management to aid business decision-making.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• At least 5 years of progressive accounting experience in a detail-oriented environment.
• Demonstrated knowledge of general ledger accounting, journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close procedures.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial statement preparation.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills with the ability to respond effectively to information requests.
• Solid analytical, numerical, and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and effective time management.
• High level of discretion, integrity, and a reliable work ethic.
