Bring your expertise in American Sign Language to make a difference in student lives as a contracted Sign Language Interpreter for the upcoming 2026–2027 school year. Four positions are available, offering rewarding opportunities to work with students at the high school and middle school levels.

This role is structured for full-time engagement (37.5 hours per week), starting August 3, 2026, and concluding May 28, 2027. You’ll be assigned to one of several local school campuses, each dedicated to fostering inclusive, accessible learning environments for the Deaf and hard-of-hearing community.

Desired Experience & Qualifications:

  • 3.5 EIPA (Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment) required
  • Proficient in American Sign Language and related interpreting best practices
  • Previous experience working with youth or educational settings preferred
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, staff, and students in diverse school environments
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Reliable, flexible, and committed to student growth and access

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct sign language interpretation for students during classroom instruction and school activities
  • Facilitate effective communication between students, teachers, peers, and support staff
  • Support classroom participation and foster independence for Deaf and hard-of-hearing students
  • Maintain confidentiality and a professional demeanor in all interactions
  • Adapt interpretation style as needed to meet individual student needs and various educational settings
