Location: Indianapolis, IN 46250
Pay Rate: $20.00-$23.00 per hour (pay is dependent on experience)
Schedule: Monday-Friday; start and end times will vary between 7:30 AM and 5:00 PM
About the Role
We are seeking a dependable and flexible Float Medical Assistant to support multiple healthcare locations in the Indianapolis area. This role combines both administrative and clinical responsibilities and requires the ability to adapt quickly to different clinic environments. The ideal candidate will have strong medical office experience, excellent patient service skills, and reliable transportation to float between locations as needed.
Key Responsibilities
Administrative Support
- Greet and register patients in a professional and welcoming manner.
- Complete patient check-in and check-out processes.
- Schedule, reschedule, and coordinate patient appointments.
- Answer, screen, and route incoming telephone calls.
- Enter, update, and verify patient demographic and insurance information, including eligibility.
- Collect co-pays, coinsurance, deductibles, and outstanding balances.
- Scan, index, and process documents within the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Process medical records requests in accordance with established procedures.
- Coordinate patient referrals and follow up as needed.
- Complete insurance verification and prior authorization requests.
- Assist with administrative work queues and follow-up tasks.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements.
Clinical Support
- Escort and room patients while helping maintain efficient patient flow.
- Review and update patient medical histories.
- Assist providers with treatments and procedures within the scope of training.
- Accurately enter and maintain patient information in the electronic medical record.
- Clean, stock, and maintain exam rooms and clinical areas.
- Provide patient instructions within the employee's training and scope of practice.
- Assist with durable medical equipment documentation and dispensing.
- Support orthotic, brace, and diabetic shoe processes as trained.
- Assist with clinical work queues, patient callbacks, and follow-up tasks.
- Provide additional administrative and clinical support as needed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Reliable transportation is required.
- Minimum of 2 years of medical office experience required.
- Medical Assistant education or certification preferred.
- Ability and willingness to float between different locations as needed.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to adapt to changing schedules, clinic environments, and patient needs.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Dependable, flexible, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
