Job Description
This role focuses on maintaining, repairing, and adjusting rewinding, folding, conveying, and packaging machinery, as well as general factory equipment in a clean paper converting environment. You diagnose and resolve both mechanical and electrical issues, perform preventative maintenance, and ensure production equipment operates safely and efficiently with minimal downtime.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings to diagnose and resolve equipment issues accurately.
- Test fuses and reset electrical overloads on motors to restore proper operation.
- Differentiate between electrical and mechanical problems and select appropriate repair methods.
- Remove, replace, and reinstall electrical motors, including wiring motors for correct rotation.
- Repair or replace shafts, gearboxes, belts, chains, sprockets, idler rollers, gears, guards, brakes, clutches, and bearings of all types.
- Service and maintain air and hydraulic cylinders, pumps, and related hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Apply basic knowledge of overhead hoists to perform inspections, adjustments, and minor repairs.
- Perform welding using one or more methods such as arc, MIG, TIG, or flame cutting to repair or fabricate components.
- Carry out preventative maintenance on rewinding, folding, conveying, and packaging machinery to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
- Troubleshoot mechanical problems with little or no supervision and provide timely solutions.
- Use personal tools to perform maintenance and repair tasks efficiently and safely.
- Support maintenance of general factory equipment to ensure reliable and continuous operation.
- Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to prioritize repairs and minimize impact on operations.
- Follow safety procedures and best practices while working with electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
Essential Skills
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings.
- Strong troubleshooting skills in both electrical and mechanical systems.
- Proficiency in testing fuses and resetting electrical overloads on motors.
- Experience removing, replacing, and wiring electrical motors for correct rotation.
- Hands-on experience repairing and replacing shafts, gearboxes, belts, chains, sprockets, idler rollers, gears, guards, brakes, clutches, and bearings.
- Working knowledge of air and hydraulic cylinders, pumps, and related hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Basic knowledge of overhead hoists and their maintenance requirements.
- Welding experience with at least one method: arc, MIG, TIG, or flame cutting.
- Ability to perform preventative maintenance on industrial machinery, including rewinding, folding, conveying, and packaging equipment.
- Capability to troubleshoot mechanical problems independently with minimal supervision.
- Ownership and effective use of personal tools for maintenance work.
- High school diploma.
- Technical degree and/or demonstrated, related equivalent industrial maintenance experience.
- 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience.

- Background in maintaining conveyor systems and other material handling equipment.
- Familiarity with preventive maintenance programs and documentation.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced production setting.

- Good communication skills to coordinate with production and maintenance teams.
- Adaptability to learn specific machinery and processes used in paper converting operations.

Work Environment
You work in a clean paper converting facility with a focus on safety, reliability, and efficient production. The environment is non-union and fast paced, supporting a rapidly growing manufacturing operation. The standard work schedule is Monday through Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., with initial training conducted from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. You spend your time on and around rewinding, folding, conveying, and packaging machinery, as well as general factory equipment, using your own tools and working with electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and conveyor systems. The facility emphasizes cleanliness and organized work areas to support effective maintenance and smooth operations.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Permanent position based out of Cudahy, WI.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $60000.00 - $75000.00/yr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
