Job Title: Restoration Laborer

Job Description

This role supports restoration projects across a variety of commercial properties in the Baraboo area, typically within a 40-mile radius. You perform hands-on labor tasks such as demolition, debris removal, and detailed cleaning in environments affected by damage or requiring renovation. You work closely with an experienced Restoration Technician, with the opportunity to move into a Restoration Technician role after successful training and completion of the contract.

Responsibilities

  • Perform demolition tasks including ripping and tearing out drywall, flooring, and tiles in commercial properties.
  • Lift, carry, and dispose of debris and materials weighing up to 50 pounds repeatedly, transporting them to designated garbage or disposal areas, both indoors and outdoors.
  • Clean floors, walls, ceilings, and other surfaces thoroughly, including wiping down all fixtures and high-touch areas.
  • Remove ceiling tiles from hallways and offices and safely dispose of them according to site guidelines.
  • Handle site clean-up activities, including collecting and disposing of trash and ensuring work areas are left in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Assist with disaster restoration projects, including fire damage and fire restoration, smoke damage remediation, and water and flood damage restoration.
  • Support smoke damage clean up and wet carpet clean up using appropriate methods and tools as directed.
  • Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively for demolition, removal, and restoration tasks.
  • Follow specific instructions from supervisors and adhere to all safety rules, procedures, and site protocols at all times.
  • Communicate clearly with the manager and team members, reporting progress, issues, and safety concerns promptly.
  • Work 12-hour shifts when needed to support large or urgent cleanup and restoration projects.
  • Collaborate with a tenured Restoration Technician, learning restoration processes with the goal of transitioning into a Restoration Technician role after training and successful performance.

Essential Skills

  • Proven general labor experience in physically demanding environments.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds repeatedly throughout the shift.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to follow detailed instructions and safety rules and communicate effectively with supervisors.
  • Experience using basic hand tools for demolition, removal, and cleanup tasks.
  • Experience using power tools safely in a construction or general labor setting.
  • Willingness and ability to work 12-hour shifts when required by project demands.
  • Comfort working in both indoor and outdoor environments, including in varied and potentially challenging conditions.
  • Reliability and attention to detail in cleaning, debris removal, and site restoration tasks.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in restoration or disaster restoration environments is a plus.
  • Familiarity with fire damage and smoke damage remediation processes is advantageous.
  • Exposure to water and flood damage restoration work is helpful.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with experienced technicians and learn restoration techniques on the job.
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to take on a variety of labor tasks as needed.

Work Environment

Job sites are typically within about 40 miles of Baraboo and can be indoors or outdoors, in all types of conditions. The work is physically demanding, with frequent heavy lifting, demolition, and extensive cleaning. You use hand tools and power tools regularly and follow strict safety procedures appropriate for construction and restoration environments. Clothing should be practical for labor-intensive work and suitable for varying weather and building conditions, with any required protective equipment provided on site

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Baraboo, WI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $26.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
