This contract role is ideal for a dedicated Special Education Teacher seeking to support young learners and collaborate with a passionate district faculty. You'll be engaged full-time at a single elementary school, delivering individualized instruction and championing student growth.
What You're Bringing:
- Valid and active Michigan Special Education Teaching license
- Experience working with children on the autism spectrum (ASD) preferred
- Familiarity with developing and implementing IEPs
- Strong communication skills to engage with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Adaptability and positivity when responding to student needs and challenges
- Commitment to creating an inclusive, supportive, and respectful classroom environment
- Ability to participate in virtual interviews and meet onboarding requirements, including fingerprinting
What You'll Do:
- Provide specialized instruction for elementary students in an ASD classroom setting
- Develop and implement effective lesson plans tailored to individual student needs
- Monitor and document student progress towards IEP goals
- Collaborate with paraeducators, support staff, and other special education professionals
- Foster open lines of communication with families and caregivers
- Maintain compliance with district policies and all special education regulations
- Participate in team meetings, professional development, and ongoing training as needed
