Position Overview

Wayne County is seeking a skilled Traffic Signal Electrician to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair traffic signal systems and related electrical infrastructure throughout the county. This role is critical to ensuring the safe and reliable operation of roadway traffic control systems.

The ideal candidate will have a strong electrical background, experience with traffic signal systems or similar municipal infrastructure, and the ability to work independently in the field.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, modify, repair, and maintain traffic signal equipment and electrical systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair signalized intersections, controllers, cabinets, wiring, and related equipment.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and technical drawings.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and inspections on traffic signal infrastructure.
  • Install conduits, junction boxes, poles, cabinets, and electrical components.
  • Respond to emergency outages and perform urgent repairs as needed.
  • Operate bucket trucks, testing equipment, power tools, and other specialized equipment.
  • Ensure all work complies with applicable electrical codes, regulations, and safety standards.
  • Maintain records of maintenance, repairs, inspections, and equipment usage.



Compensation: $83,000

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education. Benefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching. Employees in this role are also entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
