This contract role focuses on providing specialized reading instruction to middle schoolers in grades 5 through 8, supporting those with language-based disabilities. In this position, you will play a key part in fostering an inclusive environment, where each student receives the guidance and support needed to thrive academically and personally.

What you bring:

  • Current Massachusetts SPED license (Moderate Disabilities, 5-8)
  • Experience in special education, with a focus on language-based learning differences
  • Strong skills in inclusion support and providing IEP services
  • Proven ability to deliver direct instruction and engage in strategic planning and co-planning with colleagues
  • Wilson Reading Program training preferred
  • Sheltered English Immersion Endorsement required
  • Reading Specialist certification is a plus, but not mandatory

Responsibilities include:

  • Delivering targeted, evidence-based reading instruction to students in small group and inclusive classroom settings
  • Collaborating with general education teachers to support curriculum modifications and differentiation
  • Developing, implementing, and monitoring Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Using data to assess student progress and adapt instruction to ensure growth
  • Supporting students’ literacy development and fostering confidence as lifelong learners
  • Engaging in regular team meetings and professional development to stay current with effective teaching strategies
