Civil Construction Engineer

Salary: Up to $150,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications
Travel: Extensive travel across multiple states
We are seeking an experienced Civil Construction Engineer with an active Professional Engineer (PE) license to provide engineering, construction, and quality control leadership for a multi-state organization operating in the heavy civil construction, concrete, asphalt, and aggregate industries.
This is a hands-on senior engineering position combining civil engineering, construction management, quality assurance/quality control, materials, and field operations.
Key ResponsibilitiesReview and approve engineering plans, calculations, specifications, and technical documents.
Review contractor submittals, shop drawings, and engineering proposals.
Provide technical leadership and oversight on major construction projects.
Conduct field inspections and assist with resolving technical and construction issues.
Ensure projects comply with applicable local, state, and federal requirements.
Develop and maintain construction Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) programs.
Manage and support Quality Control Managers, technicians, and other technical personnel.
Develop, implement, and maintain a Quality Management System (QMS).
Oversee quality audits, testing programs, recordkeeping, and calibration activities.
Investigate quality issues and develop corrective actions.
Review concrete mix designs, strength history, and project-specific mix submittals.
Assist with bidding activities, including reviewing plans, specifications, and addendums.
Coordinate and maintain required personnel certifications.
Assist with standardizing engineering designs, product codes, and quality procedures.
Work with sales and operations teams to ensure technical requirements and project submittals are accurate.
Provide technical support for major projects across multiple states.
Mentor and develop engineers, field technicians, and QC personnel.
Communicate project and quality-related issues, trends, and recommendations to management.
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related ABET-accredited engineering program.
Active Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
7-10+ years of experience in civil construction engineering, heavy civil infrastructure, construction management, or a related field.
Experience leading or managing quality control/quality assurance programs.
Experience reviewing construction plans, specifications, submittals, and technical documentation.
Strong leadership and communication skills.
Ability to mentor engineers, technicians, and field personnel.
Willingness to travel extensively across multiple states.
Heavy highway or transportation construction experience.
State DOT project experience.
Concrete, asphalt, aggregate, or construction materials experience.
ACI certifications.
OSHA training.
Experience with federal specifications, including FAA, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Railroad, or DOT requirements.
Experience with concrete mix designs and materials testing.
Experience developing or managing a Quality Management System (QMS).
This position requires a combination of office, field, construction site, and production facility work.
The role may require:

Reaching above, below, and at shoulder level.
Operating hand and foot controls.
Lifting, lowering, and carrying 50+ pounds.
Working in active construction and production environments.
