Position Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced Water Engineering Leader to serve as the Michigan Water Lead, overseeing the planning, design, and delivery of municipal water infrastructure projects throughout the state. This is a highly visible leadership role for a seasoned professional with a strong technical background in water treatment systems, municipal infrastructure, and project delivery.

The ideal candidate will bring 10-15+ years of experience leading complex water projects, developing client relationships, mentoring technical staff, and driving projects from planning and design through construction and commissioning.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the Michigan technical lead for municipal water infrastructure projects.
  • Lead the planning, analysis, and design of water treatment facilities and distribution system improvements.
  • Manage projects from concept through construction, commissioning, and closeout.
  • Prepare and oversee technical reports, engineering calculations, equipment selection, and process designs.
  • Direct the development of construction plans, specifications, and supporting documentation.
  • Provide construction administration support, including field visits, site inspections, and resolution of technical issues.
  • Coordinate with municipalities, regulatory agencies, contractors, and internal project teams.
  • Mentor junior engineers and support the continued growth of the water practice.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with quality standards.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering.
    • Master's degree preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license required.
  • 10+ years of experience in municipal water treatment design and planning.
  • Proven experience leading complex water infrastructure projects.
  • Strong knowledge of water treatment processes, facility design, and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience managing project budgets, schedules, and client relationships.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and team-building skills.
Preferred Experience
  • Leadership experience within a consulting engineering environment.
  • Familiarity with wastewater and stormwater systems.
  • Hydraulic modeling experience.
  • Experience developing client relationships and supporting business development initiatives.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $140000.00 - $180000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
