Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Forklift Mechanic to join a dedicated maintenance team. In this role, you diagnose, repair, and maintain a wide range of forklifts and other material handling equipment to ensure they operate safely, efficiently, and reliably.
Responsibilities
- Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems on forklifts, including gas, diesel, and electric units.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance and safety checks on forklifts and related material handling equipment.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues involving engines, transmissions, brakes, steering systems, and other critical components.
- Carry out forklift repair and heavy equipment maintenance in accordance with established procedures and safety standards.
- Maintain accurate service records and documentation of inspections, maintenance activities, and repairs.
- Identify, order, and replace parts as needed to complete repairs and keep equipment in optimal working condition.
- Provide emergency and unscheduled repair services to minimize equipment downtime.
- Ensure full compliance with OSHA regulations and internal safety policies during all maintenance and repair activities.
- Collaborate closely with other maintenance technicians and departments to coordinate work and support continuous operations.
- Perform maintenance repair tasks on material handling and related equipment used in metal fabrication environments.
Essential Skills
- Proven experience troubleshooting and repairing forklifts and other heavy equipment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience in repair and maintenance of industrial equipment.
- Solid knowledge of hydraulics, including the ability to diagnose and repair hydraulic systems.
- Working experience with diesel-powered equipment, including engines and related components.
- Ability to perform forklift repair, including mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- Experience as a maintenance technician in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
- Knowledge of pneumatics and the ability to diagnose and repair pneumatic systems.
- Proficiency in performing preventive maintenance on forklifts and heavy equipment.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow maintenance procedures and safety guidelines.
- Understanding of OSHA safety standards and commitment to safe work practices.
- Capability to perform electrical troubleshooting and repair on forklifts and related equipment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working with Caterpillar or similar brands of forklifts and heavy equipment.
- Maintenance repair within metal fabrication or similar industrial environments.
- Strong attention to detail when documenting service records and repair activities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative maintenance team.
- Effective communication skills to coordinate work with other technicians and departments.
- Organizational skills to manage multiple repair and maintenance tasks and prioritize urgent issues.

Work Environment

Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of City Of Industry, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $23.00 - $25.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
