We are seeking a Database Administrator II to support the administration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and migration of enterprise database environments. This role will play a key part in ongoing database migration initiatives, including moving databases to new hosted platforms, validating systems after migration, and ensuring database performance, reliability, and security. The primary focus is Microsoft SQL Server environments, with some exposure to Oracle databases being beneficial.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience in SQL Server administration, backup and recovery processes, performance troubleshooting, and production database support.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer, monitor, and maintain production Microsoft SQL Server databases in a high-availability environment.
- Support database migration projects, including planning, execution, validation, and post-migration troubleshooting.
- Perform backup, restore, recovery, and disaster recovery operations for production databases.
- Respond to daily break/fix incidents and provide timely resolution of database-related issues.
- Troubleshoot database performance, connectivity, availability, and system-related problems.
- Apply database updates, patches, and maintenance activities as required.
- Monitor database health and performance to ensure optimal operation.
- Review and manage database security, permissions, and access controls.
- Design, configure, deploy, maintain, and support database systems and related infrastructure.
- Create and maintain accurate technical documentation, procedures, and operational processes.
- Collaborate with technical teams, stakeholders, and end users to support business and project requirements.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience administering and managing production databases.
- 5+ years of Microsoft SQL Server administration experience.
- Strong knowledge of SQL Server versions 2008 through 2019.
- Experience with database migrations, platform upgrades, and validation testing.
- Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.
- Experience with database backup, recovery, monitoring, and maintenance processes.
- Knowledge of database security, access management, and compliance best practices.
- Experience configuring, deploying, maintaining, and supporting database systems.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with technical teams and business users.
- Experience maintaining project and operational documentation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting Oracle database environments.
- Experience working in enterprise-scale database environments.
- Familiarity with high-performance database platforms and infrastructure.
- Experience supporting hardware refresh or end-of-life migration projects.
