Civil Design Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Civil Design Engineer to lead and oversee Land Development projects, ensuring the highest quality standards are met. The ideal candidate will mentor junior staff, manage technical calculations and design drawings, and ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
Responsibilities- Oversee the design of Land Development projects and provide leadership to junior staff.
- Promote, establish, and assure quality on all projects and work performed by the team.
- Assign personnel to project teams and manage project tasks and schedules.
- Perform technical reviews of project documents and supervise junior staff.
- Manage the production of technical calculations, conceptual and detailed design drawings for site plan, construction drawing, and permitting packages.
- Research and prepare engineering reports for stormwater management, storm drainage, erosion control, and more.
- Prepare local, state, and federal permit applications to support the project.
- Assist Project Managers with project-related tasks.
- Analyze technical problems, develop new techniques, approaches, and alternative solutions.
- Ensure the QA/QC process is followed and maintain a focus on quality.
- Communicate effectively with project managers and technical staff to understand project scope, schedule, and budget.
- Participate in or lead team/project meetings.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or requested by management.
- Conform to all applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and company policies.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
- Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience as a project engineer or engineering intern.
- Valid NC Professional Engineering (PE) license.
- Highly detail-oriented with excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong time management and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil3D is required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel. Bluebeam REVU desired.
- Ability to work independently and manage/schedule a team.
- Effective client relations and public speaking capabilities.
- Effective written communication skills.
- Focus on quality and ability to perform quality control reviews.

Job Type & LocationThis is a Permanent position based out of Durham, NC.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $125000.00/yr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
