Job Description
The Shipping and Receiving Specialist plays a key role in ensuring that all incoming and outgoing materials are handled accurately, efficiently, and economically. This position is responsible for shipping and receiving activities, packaging products, using RF scanners and ERP systems to manage inventory, and maintaining clear documentation and communication across warehouse teams and shipping vendors.
Responsibilities
- Perform daily shipping and receiving activities, ensuring all packages are processed accurately and economically.
- Use RF scanners and ERP systems to manage inventory, track materials, and support efficient picking and material handling.
- Package products securely and appropriately to meet shipping requirements and protect items in transit.
- Investigate discrepancies between tracking numbers issued and boxes actually received by customers, resolving issues promptly.
- Maintain proper documentation for end-of-day close, ensuring records are complete, accurate, and compliant with internal procedures.
- Provide monthly statistical reporting to warehouse leadership to support performance tracking and process improvement.
- Train and mentor substitute and new employees to ensure consistent service quality and adherence to established procedures.
- Analyze process workflows and space requirements to recommend improvements to warehouse operations and systems.
- Collaborate effectively with other warehouse employees by accepting, completing, and handing off tasks in a timely manner.
- Maintain strong working relationships with internal customers by providing reliable, responsive, and professional service.
- Demonstrate the ability to manage job complexity while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
- Communicate the daily transportation schedule clearly to various shipping vendors to ensure timely pickups and deliveries.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with all shipping vendors, serving as a reliable point of contact.
- Share relevant daily shipping workflow information between shifts to support continuity of operations and minimize disruptions.
- Foster positive morale among staff by promoting open communication with all departments and helping to create an innovative and cooperative work environment.
Essential Skills
- Hands-on experience with shipping and receiving operations in a warehouse or distribution environment.
- Proficiency in using RF scanners for inventory tracking and material handling.
- Ability to work with ERP systems to manage inventory and process shipping and receiving transactions.
- Strong skills in packaging products securely and efficiently for shipment.
- Experience with inventory management, picking, and material handling processes.
- High level of attention to detail and ability to handle complex tasks accurately.
- Strong communication skills for coordinating schedules and sharing workflow information across shifts and with vendors.
- Ability to investigate and resolve discrepancies in tracking numbers and shipments.
- Collaborative work style with the ability to work effectively as part of a warehouse team.

Work Environment
This role is based in a warehouse shipping environment focused on daily shipping and receiving operations, inventory management, and packaging. You will work with RF scanners, ERP systems, and standard material handling equipment to manage inventory, pick orders, and process shipments. The position operates on a first shift schedule from 10:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., supporting communication and handoffs between shifts to maintain continuous workflow.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Peachtree City, GA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
