Job Description
This role will support accounting operations across project-based revenue, manufacturing costs, inventory management, and general ledger activities. This role works closely with project leaders, operations, supply chain, and finance teams to ensure accurate financial reporting, project cost tracking, and revenue recognition for long-term customer engagements.

Key Responsibilities

Project Accounting & Revenue Recognition
  • Collaborate with project and business teams to review project progress, costs incurred, forecasted completion costs, profitability, risks, and scope changes.
  • Maintain schedules supporting revenue recognition for long-term projects and contracts in accordance with accounting standards.
  • Analyze project performance against budgets and forecasts, identifying margin fluctuations, cost overruns, and other financial risks.
  • Prepare and support accounting entries and reconciliations related to project activity, revenue, costs, and contract balances.
  • Assist with project closeout activities, including final cost reviews, revenue adjustments, and reconciliation of outstanding commitments.
Cost & Inventory
  • Support the development and maintenance of inventory and cost accounting controls, including receipts, transfers, allocations, reconciliations, and physical inventory procedures.
  • Reconcile inventory balances and project costs across multiple operational and accounting systems, researching and resolving discrepancies.
  • Develop and maintain reporting related to manufacturing costs and operational variances, including materials, labor, overhead, and purchasing activities.
  • Partner with operations and supply chain teams to improve inventory accuracy, cost capture, and work-in-process tracking.
  • Participate in cycle counts and physical inventory reviews and assist with investigation and resolution of inventory variances.
General Accounting & Process Improvement
  • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations, including inventory, contract-related accounts, intercompany balances, and other assigned accounts.
  • Investigate reconciling items and coordinate resolution with key stakeholders.
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes, including audit requests and financial reporting activities.
  • Maintain accounting procedures, process documentation, and internal control records.
  • Participate in system enhancements, data validation, process optimization, and future ERP implementation initiatives.
  • Perform additional accounting and analysis projects as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of accounting experience in one or more of the following areas: project accounting, cost accounting, inventory accounting, manufacturing accounting, or general ledger accounting.
  • Understanding of accrual accounting, financial reconciliations, journal entries, and GAAP principles.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including data analysis, pivot tables, and lookup functions.
  • Ability to interpret operational information and translate business activity into financial results.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with long-term contract accounting and revenue recognition methodologies.
  • Background in manufacturing, construction, engineering, industrial services, or project-based environments.
  • Experience with inventory management, work-in-process accounting, job costing, or manufacturing cost analysis.
  • Exposure to ERP implementations or accounting system conversions.

Pay Details: $105,000.00 to $120,000.00 per year
