Tester/Soldering Production Operator

Pay Rate: $20.90/hour (3rd Shift)
Shift: 3rd shift (9:30 PM – 6:00 AM)
Mandatory training on 1st shift (6:00 AM – 2:30 PM) for 90-100 days.
About the RoleWe are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Tester/Soldering Production Operator to assemble, solder, and test a wide variety of relays and contactors for our manufacturing site in Mansfield, OH. This role requires precision, compliance with high-quality standards, and the ability to operate in a team-based, unionized environment.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assemble, solder, and test relays and contactors following J-STD-001 Military Spec Soldering Procedures.
  • Perform operational tests such as operating times, voltages, dielectric, and insulation resistance.
  • Test and adjust units to conform to all in-shop final test requirements and established procedures.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, test specifications, FTP, and ATP reports.
  • Accurately follow written test instructions and procedures for product testing.
  • Use measurement instruments, hand tools, gauges, analyzers, multimeters, and power supplies to ensure compliance with quality specifications.
  • Diagnose and repair faults, reassemble units, and complete re-testing as needed.
  • Operate specialized equipment such as mass spectrometers and ESS equipment, if required.
  • Identify and support solutions to recurring test issues and support ongoing process improvement.
  • Visually inspect products by checking color, shape, texture, and grade against templates and reference materials.
  • Participate fully in a team environment—share work, assist with problem-solving, and help train other employees as needed.

Minimum Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Proficient in the use of measuring instruments, soldering irons, hand tools, and power tools.
  • Comfortable with a variety of diagnostic and testing instruments.

Certification Requirements
  • ESD training per OP 1707.
  • Solder certification per OP 1701.
  • Testing certification per OP 1704.
  • J-STD-001 and IPC-620 certifications.
  • If not certified as a tester, must pass the tester certification class on the first attempt if awarded the role due to lack of fully qualified bidders. Failure to do so will result in disqualification.
