Job Description
Step into a dynamic educational environment near Cambridge, Massachusetts, supporting middle school students in grades 5-8 with language-based disabilities. Two opportunities are available for committed Special Education teachers to deliver exceptional reading instruction and provide essential inclusion support. As a contract educator, you will collaborate with a talented team to empower students through strategic interventions and personalized learning plans.
Your expertise in designing and delivering instruction for learners with diverse needs will be integral as you plan, co-plan, and implement Individualized Education Program (IEP) services. Direct instruction and targeted support using research-based strategies, such as the Wilson Reading Program, will be central to your role.
Key Qualifications:
- Active Massachusetts Special Education license (Moderate Disabilities 5-8)
- Sheltered English Immersion Endorsement
- Experience supporting students with language-based disabilities, especially in a middle school setting
- Proven ability to provide inclusion support, direct instruction, IEP implementation, and collaborative planning
- Familiarity or experience with the Wilson Reading Program preferred
- Reading Specialist certification is a plus, but not required
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality reading instruction tailored to students with language-based disabilities
- Collaborate with general education teachers for co-planning and co-teaching, enhancing inclusive practices
- Develop and implement effective IEPs, monitor progress, and adjust instruction as needed
- Provide targeted interventions using evidence-based programs and actively participate in ongoing professional development
- Foster a positive, welcoming classroom environment that encourages growth and achievement for all students
