Job Description
Responsibilities:
• Direct daily accounting activities across payables, receivables, the general ledger, and payroll to maintain accurate and timely financial operations.
• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close cycles, ensuring financial records are complete, reconciled, and ready for reporting.
• Produce and review financial statements, evaluate performance trends, and deliver meaningful analysis to support leadership decisions.
• Coordinate the annual budget process with operational leaders and maintain forward-looking forecasts that support company planning.
• Analyze spending against plan, investigate variances, and recommend corrective actions to improve financial performance.
• Oversee construction project accounting, including percentage-of-completion reporting, cost tracking, revenue recognition, and margin analysis.
• Partner with project managers to strengthen job costing accuracy, billing practices, and visibility into project profitability.
• Guide the accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, including vendor management, invoicing oversight, and collection activities.
• Establish and refine internal controls, improve accounting workflows, and identify automation opportunities that increase accuracy and efficiency.
• Supervise, coach, and develop accounting team members while promoting accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline; certification is an advantage.
• At least 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including 3 or more years serving in a manager or controller-level position.
• Demonstrated background in construction accounting, particularly with percentage-of-completion methodologies.
• Strong working knowledge of financial reporting, close processes, budgeting, forecasting, and project-based accounting.
• Experience using accounting systems effectively; familiarity with Deltek is preferred.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including the ability to build analyses and financial models.
• Strong analytical, communication, and organizational abilities with a high level of attention to detail.
