Job Description

This role focuses on precision machining for aerospace, medical, and robotics applications using CNC mills, lathes, and Swiss machinery. You will perform complex setups, run and troubleshoot machines, maintain tight tolerances, and carry out detailed inspections on small to medium-sized components made from materials such as aluminum and stainless steel. You will collaborate closely with engineering, handle production paperwork, and support a flexible manufacturing environment that adapts to customer demands.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and run CNC mills, lathes, and Swiss machines to produce aerospace, medical, and robotics components.
  • Perform complex machining operations while holding very tight tolerances, including +/- thousandths of an inch.
  • Troubleshoot CNC machinery issues during production to maintain quality and throughput.
  • Conduct thorough inspections of all products using micrometers, calipers, and other precision measuring tools.
  • Work with aluminum, stainless steel, and similar materials to produce small to medium-sized components.
  • Make light program edits and zero out machines as needed to ensure accurate and consistent production.
  • Complete required production paperwork accurately and on time.
  • Maintain safety regulations and follow all shop policies and procedures.
  • Identify and report defective materials, processes, or equipment issues promptly.
  • Communicate consistently with the engineering team to resolve technical issues and optimize machining processes.
  • Adapt to changing customer demands and adjust setups or processes accordingly.
  • Wear multiple hats in the facility, supporting various machining and production needs as required.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience running and setting up CNC mills or lathes.
  • Demonstrated experience holding very tight tolerances, including +/- thousandths of an inch.
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting CNC machinery during production.
  • Proficiency working with aluminum and stainless steel materials.
  • Ability to perform precise inspections using micrometers, calipers, and other measurement tools.
  • Experience with Swiss CNC machinery is strongly preferred.
  • Capability to perform light program edits and zero out machines.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality and safety.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with engineering and production teams.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in aerospace, medical, or robotics machining environments.
  • Comfort working on very complex machining tasks and multi-step setups.
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and support different areas of the shop as needed.
  • Familiarity with ITAR-regulated work environments.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently once trained.
  • Willingness to adapt to evolving customer requirements and production priorities.

Work Environment

The facility is one of the largest and most versatile CNC shops in Western Massachusetts, featuring an extremely clean, well-lit production floor. Some shop areas are louder and fast-paced, while others are quieter, providing a mix of environments depending on the work being performed. You will work with advanced CNC mills, lathes, and Swiss machinery, along with precision inspection tools such as micrometers and calipers. The day shift runs from 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, supporting a structured schedule in a professional manufacturing setting.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Agawam, MA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $62400.00 - $86000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
