We are looking for an Inventory Clerk to join a retail organization in Saint Louis, Missouri on a contract basis with the potential to become permanent. This position supports daily inventory and purchasing accuracy by partnering with accounting, warehouse, and vendor contacts to keep transactions aligned and current. The role is well suited for someone who is highly organized, comfortable working through transaction exceptions, and able to manage a steady flow of detailed work in a hybrid environment.

Responsibilities:
• Compare warehouse receiving activity against outstanding purchase orders and confirm that entries are recorded correctly.
• Examine quantities, unit costs, and supporting receipt details to maintain accurate inventory and purchasing records.
• Match supplier invoices with purchase orders and receiving documentation to verify completeness before processing.
• Handle intercompany receiving and purchase order reconciliation activities across related transactions.
• Investigate mismatches involving receipts, invoices, and purchasing records, then follow through to resolution.
• Reduce outstanding transaction backlogs while keeping up with newly submitted inventory and purchasing activity.
• Work closely with warehouse staff, purchasing partners, accounting team members, and vendors to address exceptions promptly.
• Use Excel to organize data, perform reconciliations, and identify issues within high-volume transaction reports.• Prior experience in inventory accounting, inventory control, accounts payable, purchasing coordination, or a related operational accounting function.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to spot inconsistencies in large volumes of transactional data.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including sorting, filtering, formulas, reconciliation work, and analysis of large datasets.
• Ability to manage deadlines, balance multiple priorities, and maintain accuracy under routine processing demands.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills for working across warehouse, accounting, purchasing, and vendor contacts.
• Comfort working independently within established procedures while knowing when to escalate issues.
• Experience supporting inventory tracking, asset inventory, or physical inventory processes is preferred.
