We are seeking a skilled Fire Alarm Designer with 2-5 years of experience. The role involves designing and developing fire alarm systems for commercial, industrial, and multi-family projects, ensuring compliance with NFPA, IBC, IFC, local AHJ requirements, and project specifications.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare detailed fire alarm layouts, riser diagrams, device placement drawings, calculations, and submittal packages, including product data, battery calculations, and sequences of operation.
  • Collaborate closely with project managers, estimators, engineers, and field personnel to ensure accurate system coordination and constructible designs.
  • Review architectural, electrical, and mechanical drawings for project integration.
  • Select appropriate fire alarm equipment and support permitting and AHJ approval processes.
  • Respond to plan review comments, implement design revisions, and contribute to design-build and value engineering efforts.
  • Maintain organized project documentation and deliver high-quality, code-compliant fire alarm system designs on time and within project budgets.
Essential Skills
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Drafting, or related field.
  • 2-5 years of fire alarm design experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of NFPA codes and local fire alarm requirements.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD or HydroCAD, and fire protection design software.
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Revit experience is preferred.
  • NICET certification is preferred.

The position is based in an office environment located in Anne Arundel County, Maryland. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
