Job Description
The Logistics Coordinator oversees the coordination of outbound shipments of finished products and inbound deliveries of raw materials for a manufacturing facility, ensuring accurate documentation, timely scheduling, and effective communication with internal teams and external partners for both domestic and international customers.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate outbound shipments of finished products to domestic and international customers, ensuring timely and accurate delivery.
- Manage inbound shipments of raw materials, including scheduling deliveries and coordinating with the unloading team.
- Maintain intimate knowledge of customer accounts, including specific product requirements and specifications.
- Communicate effectively with Sales, Manufacturing, freight companies, railroads, regulatory agencies, customers, Accounting, brokers, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth logistics operations.
- Build and maintain strong internal and external customer relationships to support ongoing business needs.
- Schedule outbound loads and coordinate closely with the warehouse team to ensure proper staging and loading.
- Assign loads and print labels for outgoing shipments, ensuring all shipment documentation is complete and accurate.
- Ensure container numbers and seals are handled correctly on all loads and that related documentation is updated in the system.
- Understand plant operations, including logistics, production, and inventory processes, to support efficient material and product flow.
- Manage rail logistics for the facility, coordinating rail shipments and related documentation.
- Handle incoming raw material loads by printing and providing labels to the unloading team.
- Assist with warehouse management activities related to shipping and receiving as needed.
- Support payroll-related tasks associated with logistics or warehouse staff as required.
Essential Skills
- Proven experience in shipment coordination for outbound finished products and inbound raw materials.
- Strong experience in shipping coordination, including scheduling and documentation.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate internal truck drivers and supply chain activities.
- Knowledge of logistics and supply chain processes, including rail logistics management.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with internal teams and external partners.
- Ability to build and maintain strong customer and stakeholder relationships.
- Proficiency with computer systems and software used for shipment documentation and label printing.
- Understanding of warehouse management practices related to shipping, receiving, and inventory.
- Ability to manage multiple shipments and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working in a manufacturing or plant environment with exposure to production and inventory operations.
- Familiarity with shipment documentation requirements for domestic and international customers.
- Exposure to coordinating with external freight companies, railroads, regulatory agencies, and brokers.
- Experience providing payroll assistance for logistics or warehouse teams.
- Experience in supply chain coordination and logistics planning.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in handling labels, container numbers, and seals.
Work Environment
This role operates in an office setting located within a manufacturing facility. The Logistics Coordinator works closely with warehouse, production, and supply chain teams, as well as external freight and rail partners. The environment involves regular use of computers and logistics systems, coordination of shipments and documentation, and interaction with on-site operations to support efficient movement of materials and finished goods. The position offers a contract-to-hire structure, providing a long-term opportunity for growth within a stable operational setting.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chattanooga, TN.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $27.00 - $30.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
