Job Description
This Business Analyst (Non-IT) role focuses on business operations and vendor relationship management for non-IT projects. The position sits above an administrative level and below management, supporting project managers and directors by maintaining project management processes, including goals, deadlines, metrics, and budgets. You will act as a key liaison across business units, contribute to strategic planning and resource allocation, and provide analytical insights on business trends, revenues, and expenses.
Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain clear and consistent communication services across business units and between project teams and the broader organization.
- Maintain accurate storage and efficient retrieval of all project communications data and business metrics to support reporting and decision-making.
- Review contracts, cost proposals, and contract supplements to ensure accuracy, compliance, and alignment with business objectives.
- Set up project structures and work breakdown structures that support effective project planning, tracking, and execution.
- Establish, document, and refine business processes to improve efficiency, consistency, and control across operations.
- Track project budgets and expenditures, monitoring transaction controls and actual costs against approved budgets.
- Identify and predict potential budget overruns and provide well-supported recommendations and solutions to mitigate financial risk.
- Analyze business trends and project future revenues and expenses to support forecasting, budgeting, and strategic planning.
- Apply accounting and mathematical principles as needed to validate financial data and support business analyses.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure project goals, deadlines, metrics, and budgets are clearly defined, monitored, and achieved.
- Use advanced Excel and other enterprise applications to build reports, dashboards, and analytical models that support business decisions.
- Work independently, managing your time and priorities effectively to meet deadlines and support multiple concurrent initiatives.
Essential Skills
- 5–7 years of relevant experience in business analysis, business operations, finance, or a closely related field.
- Advanced Excel experience, including complex formulas, data analysis, and reporting.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and make data-driven recommendations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly to various stakeholders.
- Strong attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in contracts, budgets, metrics, and documentation.
- Customer service mindset and strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain effective vendor and internal relationships.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.
- Knowledge of business and management principles related to strategic planning, resource allocation, and production methods.
- Ability to apply accounting and mathematical principles to daily work as needed.
- Ability to analyze business trends and project future revenues and expenses to support planning and forecasting.
- Proficiency with computer applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Bachelor’s degree in business management, economics, finance, accounting, or a relevant field, or equivalent experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with enterprise applications is a plus and will support more advanced reporting and analysis.
- Master’s degree in a relevant field is accepted and considered beneficial.
- Internship experience in business analysis, operations, finance, or related roles is accepted as part of overall experience.
- Experience in roles such as Demand and Order Analyst or similar positions provides a strong foundation for this role.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks, documents, and deadlines effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate within small teams while also working independently.
- Interest in gaining exposure to a large, complex corporate environment with potential for future career opportunities.
Work Environment
This position is based 100% in an office environment and is not a remote role. You will work closely with a small team of three members, fostering tight collaboration and direct communication. The role uses standard office technology, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and enterprise applications, within a structured, project-focused setting. The environment supports professional attire appropriate for an office and offers exposure to a large corporate organization, providing insight into high-level business operations and potential future opportunities.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Peoria, IL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $28.00 - $33.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
