Job Description
Title: Database analyst/programmer 2- #100450
Location: Mossville, IL
Workplace type: 100% onsite (M-F, 40 hour work week)-open to relocation candidates but MUST be able to be onsite day 1 of contract (max 2 weeks from offer) and relocation is not covered by Swoon or the client

Pay: $37.23/hour on w2- exact rate no flex
Length: 12 months
Screenings: no tech, full panel drug and background once hired
IV process: 1-2 rounds

Must haves:
Education & Experience Required:
- Min 2+ Years of experience
- Degree requirement: Associate's degree in computer programming or relevant field required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Snowflake Database Administration (implementing, debugging/troubleshooting/tracing, issue resolution)
- Data Governance and Architecture
- Strong SQL and query engineering / Data pipeline / ETL development (view/query authoring, troubleshooting, performance tuning)
- Strong SQL (query/view authoring, troubleshooting, and performance tracing)
- Python (scripting and automation)
- Data pipeline / ETL and job orchestration (including cloud scheduling such as AWS Lambda)
- +Role-based Access Controls
- +Documentation of architecture and Program specific flows
- +Version Control Systems and Code Review processes

- BI tooling (Power BI and/or Tableau)
- SAS familiarity
- Non-Snowflake source integration (DB2, Oracle, Teradata, SQL Server, NAS, SharePoint)

Summary:
The main function of a database administrator is to coordinate changes to computer databases (Snowflake), test and implement the database applying knowledge of database management systems. A typical database administrator is responsible for planning, coordinating and implementing security measures to safeguard the computer database.
Job Responsibilities:
• Test programs or databases, correct errors and make necessary modifications.
• Modify existing databases and database management systems.
• Work as part of a project team to coordinate database development and determine project scope and limitations.
• Write and code logical and physical database descriptions and specify identifiers of database to management system.
• Review project requests describing database user needs to estimate time and cost required to accomplish project.
Skills:
• Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage one’s time.
• Basic mentoring skills necessary to provide support and constructive performance feedback.
• Knowledge of computer hardware and software.
- Github, Github copilot and Agentic AI experience a plus
• Knowledge of computer languages/tools, such as SQL, Snowflake, Python, etc.
Education/Experience:
• Associate's degree in computer programming or relevant field required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
• 2-4 years experience required.
Position’s Contributions to Work Group:
- The position fills the Database Administrator (DBA) role for a small analytics team, maintaining the intended data architecture (including for other team members), implementing data governance, creating and managing database objects, and documenting the architecture and program-specific flows.
- Own end-to-end user access management: triage access requests, obtain approvals/denials, communicate results, grant access, and administer role-based access controls to keep users accountable and compliant.
- Serve as the Data/Product Owner for multiple analytics programs and datasets, collaborating continually with the team where data sets and end-users often overlap to ensure consistent architecture and user experience.
- Support the Analytics team's modernization initiative, migrating from a legacy SAS central platform to a modern reporting framework.
- Coordinate, test, and implement changes to Snowflake databases, correcting errors and modifying databases/DBMS as needed.
- Author, troubleshoot, and performance-tune SQL views and queries, and build and maintain data pipelines (ETL) and job orchestration, including cloud scheduling such as AWS Lambda.
- Build and improve data sets and reporting for owned programs, and support customer inquiries on available data, enhancements, and general support.
- Advise and support the data needs of Data Specialists / Scientists and report builders, and perform joint planning to avoid duplicative or conflicting outputs.

- Build or improve data sets or reporting for responsible programs
- Manage data architecture for other members of the team
- Support customer inquiries for support, available data to consume, and enhancements to existing tools
- Assist team members with tasks to help balance workloads
Interaction with team:
- Advise and support data needs for the rest of the team of Data Specialists / Scientists and report builders
- Perform joint planning to avoid duplication of efforts or conflicting outputs
- Assist the management of the footprint of technology (Snowflake, SAS, Oracle, Teradata, SQL Server, Power BI, Tableau)
- Frequent and detailed communication is needed on a daily basis
