The Press Brake Setup Technician operates and assists with setup of a Cincinnati press brake to form large metal sinks and related components. This role focuses on accurately shaping sheet metal parts to match engineering diagrams, using precision measuring tools to verify quality, and supporting experienced sheet metal craftsmen in the metal forming process within a clean, industrial manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities
  • Operate a Cincinnati press brake to form large metal sinks and other sheet metal components according to diagrams and specifications.
  • Carefully position sheet metal parts in the press brake to ensure proper forming and alignment.
  • Assist higher-level Sheet Metal Craftsmen with the setup and positioning of sheet metal parts in brake presses.
  • Support higher-level Sheet Metal Craftsmen in changing brake press dies and preparing equipment for production runs.
  • Actuate hand and foot controls on brake presses under the direction of experienced Sheet Metal Craftsmen to perform metal forming operations.
  • Use micrometers, calipers, and tape measures to verify that formed parts match diagrams, dimensions, and required shapes.
  • Inspect parts for accuracy and quality, ensuring they meet established standards and tolerances.
  • Utilize carts and other material handling equipment to move sheet metal and components within the department.
  • Perform daily general clean-up of designated work areas to maintain a safe and organized environment.
  • Work collaboratively with other team members on the production floor to meet production goals and schedules.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of tools, equipment, and required personal protective equipment.
Essential Skills
  • 6 months to 1 year of metal machine operating experience, preferably with press brakes or similar equipment.
  • Manufacturing or industrial production experience in a fast-paced environment.
  • Hands-on experience using hand and power tools such as sanders, shears, presses, and spot welders.
  • Ability to operate a Cincinnati press brake or similar metal forming machinery.
  • Basic measuring skills, including accurate use of micrometers, calipers, and tape measures.
  • Capability to read and follow diagrams and part specifications to ensure correct part shape and dimensions.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds as part of regular job duties.
  • Ability to follow instructions from experienced Sheet Metal Craftsmen and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Commitment to maintaining a clean and safe work area and adhering to safety guidelines.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience working with sheet metal in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
  • Familiarity with brake press die changes and basic machine setup procedures.
  • Comfort working with carts and other material handling equipment to move materials around the facility.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality when inspecting and measuring parts.
  • Reliability in attendance and punctuality to support consistent production schedules.
  • Willingness to occasionally work weekends and overtime when needed to meet production demands.

Work Environment

This position is based in a large, clean industrial manufacturing facility with approximately 100 people on the production floor. The role operates on 1st shift, Monday through Friday, from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with a typical workweek of 40–45 hours and occasional weekend work when needed. The team is growing and aims to expand to more than 30 members in the near term. Work is performed around Cincinnati press brakes and other metal fabrication equipment in a well-maintained production area. The dress code consists of jeans and a T-shirt, along with required safety glasses and steel-toe boots to ensure a safe working environment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of BROADVIEW, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.63 - $25.86/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
