Growing Nonprofit Organization Seeking Experienced Senior Accountant
A well-established nonprofit organization serving children, youth, and families across New York City and Long Island is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its expanding Finance & Accounting team. This is a newly created position reporting directly to the Controller and offers excellent exposure to nonprofit financial operations, government contract reporting, and regulatory compliance.
Compensation & Schedule
$90,000 - $100,000 (depending on experience)
Hybrid Schedule - 1 day/week in office
Responsibilities
'14; 5+ years of nonprofit accounting experience
'14; Strong experience with NYS CFR reporting
'14; Knowledge of government contracts and reimbursement funding
'14; Experience preparing and managing program budgets
'14; Treasury management, financial statement preparation, audit support, and bank reconciliations
'14; Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
'14; Advanced Excel skills
'14; Experience with Sage Intacct and Martus is a plus

Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements and management reporting packages
- Perform month-end and year-end close activities
- Treasury management and cash reporting
- Bank reconciliations and balance sheet account reconciliations
- Budget preparation, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Prepare CFR workpapers and complete New York State CFR filings
- Support annual audits and Form 990 preparation
- Ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards and internal controls
- Partner with program and contracts teams regarding government-funded programs and reimbursements
- Assist with consolidated financial reporting
